Update: Since some people seem confused, let me reiterate, “the latest developer builds” seem to be required for these themes to work correctly. Can’t wait for Chrome to give us access to make our own themes! They also remind me of my beautiful work of art (pictured below) in creating a new custom theme for Gmail. And some, like the “Baseball” theme, make seeing tabs almost impossible. It’s nice to have the option to personalize and skin your browser, but most of these themes are way too distracting. These themes work on the latest developer builds of both the Windows and Mac versions of Chrome (I haven’t tried out Linux, but I imagine they will work there as well). If you close that, you can revert in the Preferences area, under “Personal Stuff.” The theme will download and in the download manager at the bottom of the Chrome browser window, simply select “open.” After you have the new theme installed, you’ll see an option to return to the default theme.
Just pick the one you like and click on the “Apply theme” button. On the page, you can find 29 official themes that range from subtle (greyscale) to hideously ugly (legal pad). As we first reported the existence of a few days ago, Google’s Theme Gallery for Chrome has gone live. Click on it once and the thumbnails will be displayed on your screen. In the bottom right corner, there’s an icon that will return the most visited page thumbnails if you need them. You can click on it to open even more detailed literature about a particular painting that catches your eye. You can have a new painting in the new tab every day or you can have a different painting every time you open a new tab.Įxtra info about the painting is in the bottom left side of your screen. The extension options allow to change the frequency with which the paintings change. Once installed, it automatically starts hanging paintings in the new tab page. The chrome extension is free as you wold expect. They have the personnel to move around museums around the world and find these monumental paintings. This branch of Google mainly deals with Arts and Culture. This extension was put together by Google’s cultural institute. Every time you open a new tab, the boring default page will now be replaced with a random famous painting. Google Art Project is a Chrome extension that lets you hang a great paintings from the world’s most famous painters. You just need to be a Google Chrome user. You don’t have to travel to museums around the worlds to see great and famous paintings. If you’re the kind of person who likes paintings, you are in for a treat. The default new tab age in Google Chrome is black and white.
